About Brian Mulawka

Brian MulawkaI was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and got my first computer at age 12 when dad won a Commodore 64 – and my love for technology hasn’t faded since. I’ve done a lot of different work over the years, and using technology in innovative ways is the only constant in virtually everything I’ve ever done.

I built this blog as a way to share my passion for everything electronic: the internet, web design / applications, social media, mobile programming and gadgets. I hope you find the information here interesting and useful.

I was raised in Edmonton and went to the University of Alberta where I studied political science and classical literature. Shortly after graduating I moved to Ottawa to work as the Legislative Assistant for Ken Epp, who was at that time the Member of Parliament for Elk Island, and who remains a truly great man. I was then honoured to work with Deborah Grey and Preston Manning as the Question Period Manager for the Official Opposition.

A few years (and a new wife) later, I moved back to Edmonton and worked for several years as a communications and political campaign consultant with my own firm, first past the post. I also had a truly fascinating and very rewarding stint as the National Affairs Reporter with the now defunct (and much missed) Western Report magazines.

More recently I have been a part of an amazing family company, High Grade Homes. My father Richard started building homes over 20 years ago, and my mother Muriel has always been involved in the company. My wife does the company’s books, and I enjoy doing the marketing and helping with customer relations. I continue to be proud of the accomplishments and work of this great company, and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to so greatly enjoy working with my family.

I currently work with the Government of Alberta as an Internet and Social Media Coordinator, after spending 18 months as a Public Affairs Officer there. I am very fortunate to be doing something I am so passionate about with such a bright and pleasant group of people.

(Obligatory note: The opinions expressed on this blog are mine alone and in no way reflect those of my employer)

I have been truly blessed with a wife, Jodi, who I do not deserve, and two boys – Hunter (11) and Madden (4) who are a genuine joy to be around.
